What's Wrong With People These Days?

Let me start off with a little background information. Wayne's mom had an aneurism in her brain that ruptured last Wednesday. She had surgery and they got the bleeding stopped, and she was getting better. She had a stroke earlier tonight, and now the doctors don't think she's going to make it. My cousin's mother-in-law and Wayne's mom are sisters. Since Wayne and My cousin and her husband (his cousin) don't exactly get along anymore, I am like the family go-between. When something happens in my part of the Turner family (yes, I still consider Wayne my family), I get in touch with my cousin's part and let them know what's going on.

Okay, did you get all of that? We have a really complicated family, and that's the best explanation I could come up with right now.

Wayne called me a little bit ago to tell me about his mom, and he asked me if I could call my cousin and tell them that they need to take the mother-in-law to see his mom tomorrow because they don't think she's going to make it. I called my cousin on her cell phone, and she said, "Well, we're in Dunlap. Do you reckon June can take her?"

They're in Dunlap, big fucking deal. It's not like they're hundreds of miles away. All they're doing is partying with her brother-in-law like they do every weekend. Why can't they just hold off on partying long enough to take the mother-in-law to see her dying sister? Things like that annoy the hell out of me! They really need to get their priorities straight.

I would take her up there if I could, but my car is in need of brakes, and I don't think a trip to Chatt would be very safe. It's not far, but I'd rather not get into heavy traffic and have my brakes go out. Besides, I won't be able to get a babysitter, and I don't think kids are allowed in ICU. I wish I could go see her, but I don't have a way, and I don't really belong there anymore. I think it would be way too uncomfortable for Wayne to have me and Daphne in the same building, and he just doesn't need that right now. He's got enough to worry about. His mom is dying, and his dad is in prison. I wish I could be there to take care of him right now, but that's not my job anymore. Posted by sabrina at November 8, 2003 12:56 AM | TrackBack

I'm sorry you're in such a complicated situation right now, but at least you're doing your best to keep everything under control, and thats all they can ask of you. I hope everything works out!
