Charging Rove?

"A liberal can be found standing over a dead body with a smoking gun in his hand and the media will remind us that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. But the same media have for months been hyping insinuations that Karl Rove is guilty of something he has not even been charged with."

-from the latest "Random Thoughts" column by Thomas Sowell.

A couple other grabbers:

"Who would have dreamed that 'Merry Christmas' would become a controversial phrase? But increasingly schools and other institutions avoid it like the plague, in order to be politically correct."

(Merry Christmas, everybody.)

"Someone once said that the most important knowledge is knowledge of our own ignorance. Our schools are depriving millions of students of that kind of knowledge by promoting 'self-esteem' and encouraging them to have opinions on things of which they are grossly ignorant, if not misinformed."

(Anyone trying to hire someone with actual skills these days can, I suppose, sympathize with this one...)

Having coordinated a massive first-time Senior Project effort at my school, I've seen this firsthand.

Scores of parents have contacted me, complaining about their students' low grades, saying, "but (s)he worked so hard. This grade is not reflective of how much time (s)he put into this project. (S)he deserves a better grade."

Sadly, our schools seem to give too much credit for effort. No matter how hard you work on it, crap is still crap. We shouldn't have to wait until we get to the workplace to find that out.

Merry Christmas

Patrick Fitzgerald has said with respect to Libby that it was impossible to find out the facts of the case because perjury and obstruction of justice were taking place. The same is happening with Rove. Fitzgerald will take the perjury and obstruction of justice charges to the Grand Jury very soon. Once Rove is charged with these crimes then the charges of treason can be better investigated.
If Rove or Libby opts to still not tell the truth and the Prez. pardons them so they will keep the dirty little secrets from going public, that will be the end of the GOP. It will be the final betrayal to Americans. GOP will be remembered as the Party of Conspiracy. A true Shame.
Merry Fitzmas.

Maybe I missed something in the translation, under investigation still implies a stink! Our executive branch has a whole lot more blood on its hands than any in recent memory. Given the corruption that hounds this administration, I am suprised at its defenders. Of course, conservative is a long winded way to make excuses for selfishness.

Gosh...

I knew if I put the word "Rove" in a post header, some of the HamDem-i-riffic folks would come and play in my yard.

Welcome!

Democrats have had 40 plus years to muck things up. Replublicans cannot wipe the blood off their hands. No, you and I have not been embraced but used by the likes of both of these. Check out the future, it is only a matter of time. The green party is that future. No corporate hooligans to steal our children. Government by/for the people. Remember, the reason for public service is not to get rich. Bring public policy and governance back to the local level. Where the people affected by the decisions have a voice in the decisions. Vote Green, Vote your conscience!

Heh.. a trap! I should have known. Oh well, thanks.
Before I leave, I think I'll start a flame war with Glen though.
Glen, our environment has been raped and murdered by the GOP. If Nader had not been such an egomaniac we would have Gore as our President and the fragile environment would have been protected. I think the "Clean Air and Skies Act" should be named in Nader's honor. He should bear responsibility for the destruction of the environment.
If you really want to change then change the Democratic Party, otherwise you are just promoting the GOP. The Green Party in 2004 endorsed Kerry because winning is what is needed.

Happy holidays! Hold the "holi."

Sandy, that claptrap about Nader causing Gore's loss in 2000 has no relevance to a person's choosing to vote for Green Party candidates next year.

The Green Party ran David Cobb for President in 2004.

I love ya sandy. I always invite progressives to vote your conscience. Most cannot. Take a look at http://www.therealdifference.org/
if you get the opportunity.

The likes of Rove and Delay would have us against pitted ourselves. I for one realize that that any justice in washington has to start in heartland. This country may not survive 3 more years of this kind of rot and corruption.

Posted by: Glen at December 1, 2005 02:35 PM

Okay Joe and Glen, I forgot the Green Party had a candidate. I used most of the Green Party's information about Bush vs. Kerry during the election to show the difference in issues. They were far better with showing the contrast than Kerry.

I did check out the site the real difference and I agree with Greens on every one of their issues; however, I feel the change is turn the Democratic Party green instead of trying to start another damn political party. The stakes are too high with respect to global warming, nuclear proliferation and the limitations on our rights by this administration to try and start a whole other entity. It would be easier to work on getting rid of Vichy Dems from the Democratic Party then it would be to build a strong new party which has control in Congress, the Senate and the White House.
Happy Daze and Love to you too.

We are the future. You and I will probably not live in the relative security our last 50 years have been. We will continue to witness the slow silent neglect that plagues this country. I know the issues are global, but we are the largest consumer of resources of the planet by far!( note that china is gaining rapidly!) Bush and all those entrenched greedy murdering politicians of his ilk will do everything in thier power to keep us stoned and subserviant. The green party is the breath of fresh young air all progressives yearn for. Please listen to your heart. There will always be Kerrys and Bushs; corporate stooges in the throne room. The green party is the cure for that fleshy rot! We can only catch a few of these traitors"Libby, Rove, Cheney,Bush", You know there are boat loads that retire to comforable seclusion with thier blood moneythat the laws do not touch or even threaten. Give the green party a look with all you know of Washington as we know it.

You and I will probably be wearing orange jumpsuits with green triangles on it over at Gitmo if we do not make change soon. We need to be realistic about this and change the Democratic Party from purple to turquoise and then green. I just fear we will go from bad to worse if we do not start winning elections. Time is of the essence.
Happy Christmahanukkwanzaa. (That's the biggest word I know).

Posted by: sandy at December 3, 2005 06:24 PM

I love it when someone exagerates about impending doom--"wearing jumpsuits at Gitmo," then says we need to "be realistic." I'm sure you're halfway there buddy..

BTW - unrealistic prophecies don't win elections.

Who would have thought that in so short a span of time we would be detaining people for indefinite periods of time without a single charge? Or when did we start torture in friendly countries. If we maintain bases in Europe secretly, what else does this government do in our name?

"Who would jesus bomb?"
