One More Day

Tomorrow i pack my bags and hit the road for my thanksgiving holidays. I need to try and get off work early so I won't have to travel in the middle of the night. 8.5 hours of traveling goodness. Definately something I am NOT looking forward to. However, I have a short sweet little someone I can't wait to spend some more time with. Its only been 3 weeks this time, but Im ready to see her.

I probably need to burn some CD's to get ready for this madness ya know? Nothing like an 8hr trip with music you're tired of. That would really make the trip a killer.

And for Today's Forecast

Its 18 degrees outside, with a windchill factor that makes it feel like its 5 degrees outside. Snow is flurrying, winds are at a steady 15-30mph to the east.

Yeah, its frikkin cold out there. I swear this wasn't in the fine print! Anywhoo, this morning I woke up at 7:20 (30 minutes after my alarm went off), and was horrified. I looked over at the clock (that read 7:20) and thought i was late. I rushed through the house, and in 10 minutes was out the door, only to find that it was snowing and my door was frozen shut. Fortunately I was able to yank the dang thing open. As Im going down the interstate to work, i realize 'hey, its only 7:30... I don't have to be at work for another 30 minutes'. Since i had bypassed my normal routine of making coffee, and breakfast, i hit up Panera for some cinamon bun goodness and some of their not-so-tasty dark brew coffee. And here I am now, at work, hoping i don't get snowed in at work.

Back from Vegas

The comdex show wasn't all it was hyped up to be. There were only 50k people there (there used to be close to 200k), and there were several companies who didnt even show up (sony, toshiba, ibm, sun, redhat, etc). You bet good ole M$ was there though. They probably never miss a chance to evangelize. So i was a bit dissapointed. Next time I go to Vegas, I think Im going to catch some of the shows (Blue Man Group, Penn & Teller, etc). Vegas just has sooo much to do, and we really didn't have all that much time to do it. Maybe next time.

You know you love your job when...

..you stay at work so late that your screenname is the only thing in your buddy list.

..you wake up in the middle of the night, and try to get back to sleep so the morning will arrive sooner.

..you are comforted by the fact that weekends end with a Monday.

..you accidentally miss lunch because you are so encompassed in your work.

..you sometimes wish your office had a bed in it.

..you've contemplated bringing in a tv and fridge to work so you don't HAVE to go home.

..you get dissapointed when your coworkers leave at the end of the day.

I Broke Everything Today

Today at work, i get there and im automatically bombarded by all sorts of reports that aren't running correctly. I'll probably spend ALL of day trying to fix one little discrepency. I unfortunately still have other areas I need to work on (since there were several reports not running). And unfortunately most of them need to be done today, at the latest. I see a long night ahead of me.

I work at a place where I have the liberty to take sick days, and im here at work today... I just have a hard time rationalizing staying home, when im able to walk, and function quasi-normally. I think im coming down with a cold or something like that... the sars, monkey pox, who knows. i NEED to get better because im leaving for Las Vegas this sunday for Comdex, and i sure would like to enjoy it.

Preparation for Christmas

So Halloween has just passed, and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It is now the optimal time to start working on a christmas list. A couple years back, in effort to let my parents know what i wanted for christmas (and vice-versa), I wrote a very simple little page that allowed you to create a list... very very basic. THe only thing it let you do was add text-items through a form. You couldn't delete or even update them once they had posted. It got the job done, but this year I decided to take another look at a christmas list application.

I came up with another phpmy* application, that allows multiple users to store their christmas lists online for everyone to view. Instead of going into how it works, Ill just let you see for yourself. If anyone wants to use this program, or wants to use it on their own site, email me, and ill help set you up.

Cleaning House

While Im on the topic of this blog. Would anyone be interested in helping me fix a couple things here? I'd like to shorten the comment exerpt to like 10-15 words (or something shorter than the whole post. I'd like to know why My blog looks normal in IE, but has inadequate spacing issues in firebird (and how i can fix that... Even though I currently have overcompensated so that it looks normal in firebird, but there is ample spacing in IE).

I'm Back, I think

I Finally got around to revamping my blog... That nasty brown just had to go. I have learned that I don't like <div> tags. They don't operate the same in explorer and mozilla/firebird. I think I'm going to change layout to use tables instead (yeah, im oldschool). Ive been pretty busy lately, so I havent had much time to blog anyways, things shouldn't change in that department, but ill still try to spit out some thoughts every now and again.
