Since I built this website close to two years ago, I've been updating our photo gallery manually. I go into Photoshop to individually crop and resize and create thumbnails. I code the HTML for each page by hand. I take a lot more photos than ever make it onto the site because of the time commitment required to post a new set of photos, and I really can't do it anymore. I'm looking for an open source or free photo gallery program with at least a moderate amount of customization allowed, and I'd like your suggestions.
Posted by JohnH at March 15, 2004 12:49 PM | TrackBackGive me a few weeks and I could have something for you. Some sort of dynamic php/mysql stuff. Only prob is how to integrate it with MT. That is unless you're going to keep galleries on esplodere then no prob.
Posted by: ColeSlaw at March 16, 2004 02:21 AMPhotostack....it's what I'm using over on my site and for moesavvy.com/gallery. It's easy to work with and tinker with. I'm also building a client's site, with it as the main content manager.
Posted by: Mike at March 16, 2004 01:20 PMI use something called 'Photo Album' from Fookes Software. It's great for taking a whole directory of images and creating a web album from it. I have to manually add in videos. All of my photo albums on www.andyandlynn.com were done with it. It's pretty good for $20. I'm looking into Adobe Photoshop Album to see if it will let me have a dynamic database for indexing photos. Anyways, let me know what you settle on.
Posted by: andyp at March 23, 2004 03:03 AMThanks for the recommendations. A net friend of mine has offered to let me use a system developed by the web development shop he runs. It's a great great solution and I'm really excited about it. Hopefully the new gallery will debut within a week or so.
Posted by: John at March 23, 2004 12:54 PMUse open source software such as Copper Mine Photogallery...found here:
http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/
if you have a basic knowledge of anything you could have this up and running in less than 20 minutes and be uploading pictures. A lot of people use it, its free open source software, and has very few bugs with the current version.
