I don't think a very strong case can be made for these guys being fundamentalists. And I also don't think a case can be made for them being Christian either. I certainly haven�t seen anyone make a good argument for it yet.
If something walks, talks, smells, feels, and lays eggs like a chicken... you don't call it a cow.
Look. These guys themselves don't even claim to be Christians. Frankly, I'm stunned that the Christian world takes them in as having any sort of "Spiritual Insight" at all. They just sometimes play mood music, so we think we should use it in church.
Come on people... They're just good old fashion Rock-N-Roll. They drink, smoke, cuss, chew, hang out in bars, go to parties, and sleep with all the women they come across. That's what all big musicians do. We�re not naive. We need to stop trying to be so super-sudo-intellectual about it. And we certainly stop incorporating them into our church services.
Honestly they�re a great band. But using U2 songs in your church worship is like getting your drinking water from the toilet. Just because the water is there, doesn�t mean you should drink it. The source DOES matter, and U2 should not be anywhere close to the source of anyone�s spirituality.
(Not being mean... just stating the obvious.)
