Day Ten

Today is day ten of my "reduced Coca-Cola diet" designed to wean me from what is certainly my favorite beverage on the whole earth. As good as it is, it just isn't good for me, and I'd be better off drinking a lot less of it. I have gone from an average of two cokes a day to only drinking three in the past ten days. I'm pretty proud of myself, and hope that I will get that number down further for the next ten days. The only downside has been caffiene withdrawal headaches, but they disappear with time. I am hoping, of course, that by getting rid of those empty calories, I can start losing a bit of weight. I was a skinny kid when I got married three and a half years ago, but as I got a little older, my metabolism slowed down. Also, I started working a desk job instead of retail, which didn't help things at all. The result is about 20 pounds I'd like to drop. I am making some other small changes to my regular diet -- eating a healthy breakfast every day is the biggest of those -- and I also plan on lifting weights regularly to build some muscle, which in turn burns fat. I think those changes will further aid me in my goal.

I'm sure this is pretty boring to my average reader, but I'm hoping that making my goals public will be a motivator for me.

That's a lot of Diet Coke! Are you immune to the caffiene at this point, or does it still give you a good jolt? I don't get much effect from the caffiene in regular Coke, but I suppose that could change as I drink less and less of it.

I see no reason to eliminate caffiene.

My pee smells like coffee.

Better than my coffee smelling like pee.

It's not really the caffiene I'm trying to avoid, just all the sugar and empty calories of Coke. I jokingly told Genia I was going to try the "coffee diet" wherein I drink so much coffee that the caffiene bumps up my metabolism but keeps me from getting too hungry.

I've started biking...In conjunction with drinking more water and less coke, I feel much better...

I would probably enjoy biking, but I don't have one. If I could find one for a really good price, it would probably be worthwhile.

Well John. I have almost totally cut the Carbo beverages. I have had 1 coke(Last night) in about 3 weeks. I run almost everyday now. I feel great. I drink so much water I go to the bathroom all hours of the night and day. Maybe like 10 times a day. I feel so much better and have dropped about 10 pounds. Finding my abs is gonna be hard but i am getting there. You can too. You have to watch what you eat too. If you want your metabolism back you need to run or swim or Play basketball. Do the crunches everyday. It's easy but you can feel your abs tightning getting ready for that flatter stomach. Once the excess fat is gone, then the abs will shine. Different excersizes help you garner better results. What i mean is that you need to change your rutine every 2 to 3 weeks. I could go on but all i am saying is that you can get what you want with a little determination. good luck with everything and happy health to you.

P.S. also is effective in combating all sorts of illnesses(Sneezes and such). LOL!!

It is calories that make you fat, not carbohydrates. In other words, your weight is determined by the total amount of calories you consume, and not the type of food that the calories come from. If you want to burn excesive fat you must spend calories by swimming, fitness, running not by starvation.
