I'm writing a December cover story about the blogging phenomenon for a local publication, and I'd be interested to hear some things from you fellow bloggers for inclusion in my piece. The piece will serve to inform folks about blogging, and bring some publicity to Chattablogs, specifically.
Feel free to respond to respond to any/all of my questions.
1. WHY do you blog?
2. What, to you, IS a blog?
3. How long have you been blogging?
4. What do you try talk about on your blog?
5. Why is a blog better/wrose/different than a traditional message board?
6. When you see something posted on somebody's blog that you agree/diasgree with, what is your first impulse?
7. How many people do you imagine are reading your blog?
8. Where do you think you're blog is going?
9. Where do you think blogging is going?
...and anything else you'd like to add...
Posted by colrus at November 11, 2003 11:07 AM | TrackBack1) I blog because I have an enormous ego and I believe that everyone could benefit from every whimsical thought that comes out of my head.
2) A blog is a public, online journal. Except that my thoughts aren't private reflections; they are public cries for attention.
3) I've been blogging since late August.
4) I talk about whatever's on my mind. Profoundities and banalities alike. Whether it's for the common good, or if it's somewhat amusing, or if only I get it and everyone else thinks it's asinine -- I blog it.
5) Blogging is better because it's all my thoughts. I take center stage; everyone else replies to me.
6) If I have the time and feel that my remarks would serve the common good, I respond.
7) Literally dozens of people log on to read what I have to say. Somw of them know me; some don't. Quite a few have stumbled upon it because a search engine sniffed out one of my remarks when they were looking for something relevant.
8) My blog is staying online right now. Blogging won't make me famous. Time travel will make me famous. Correcting grammatical errors (like the use of you're instead of your, BILL) will make me famous. Blogging is a hobby.
9) Blogging is going to West Palm for a few weeks.

2. A website that reflects the author in design and content and is updated at least semi-frequently.
3. Six months, but I've had a website for about 3 years
4. Current events/entertainment, funny/special moments of the day, memories of childhood
5. I dunno.
6. It REALLY depends on who's it is, if I've posted before, that kind of thing. I don't post a disagreement unless I've posted something there before.
7. It varies- I have a lot of friends and family that read, but they may not be doing it more out of obligation than actual interest! Some days I have 3 readers, sometimes I have 60. Depends on what I’m writing, what day of the week, etc.
8. That's the question. I don't know- I'm just blogging to improve my writing, and to experience some personal growth.
9. I think it's here to stay, as more people experiment with it. There's a revolving door, a lot of people start blogging and burnout - but there's always someone behind them that starts the cycle over again.
some is spelled s-o-m-e not s-o-m-w DAN!!!
