Learning to Ride

I bought Gracie a bicycle yesterday. She wanted it bad enough to put back everything else she was going to get, and she wanted it bad enough to get the cheap one instead of the one she really wanted, so I said "Why not?". I didn't actually get it when we were there because it wouldn't fit in my car, but I sent my stepdad back with the truck to pick it up.

Gracie has never actually ridden a bicycle before, she's always been too scared that she'll fall off, so yesterday was her first time. We only got to stay out for about 15 minutes before it started raining, but she had fun on it. She can get on all by herself, and she can pedal. She hasn't quite grasped the concept of steering yet, so I have to walk beside her with one hand on the handle bars so she doesn't run into the fence or take a nose-dive off the sidewalk.

She's been begging me all day to take her for a ride again, but we haven't been able to yet. It rained all morning, and as soon as it cleared up we went grocery shopping. The only thing stopping us from going now is that there isn't anyone here to watch Arien while we go out. It's way too wet to take her outside, and I think Gracie needs my undivided attention. My brother should be home soon, though. He'll watch Arien or I'll put a lock on the fridge and cabinets and won't let him eat any of my food. No, I wouldn't really do that, but it's always nice to have something to threaten him with. Posted by sabrina at February 6, 2004 04:02 PM | TrackBack

That's awesome... I remember when Gary & I got my niece her big bike, OMG she was so excited. I keep meaning to get a picture of her on it, but it's been so cold when she's come over, it doesn't ride too well in snow. LOL

We had training wheels put on it when we got it for her, so she wouldn't be scared. She really likes not having to have help to get on and all, because it stands up by itself that way.

Anyway, I think that's neat that she has a bike and if she's anything like my niece, you won't be able to get her off of it, once she starts going a little distance by herself. LOL

Good to see things are going much better for y'all. Take care of YOU & the girls. :) ((hugs))
