Job Searching Sucks

I've been doing the job search thing all morning long. I've found quite a few jobs that I think I would be really good at, and that I might actually enjoy. Just one problem, though - They all require at least one year of experience in whatever field they are in, and I haven't been in that field before. So, I just have one question - how in the hell is one supposed to get experience for a job if she can't get a job like that without experience?

This is so frustrating! Posted by sabrina at January 5, 2004 12:56 PM | TrackBack

belief.
or believe.

also, putting, "picks up new things easily"
or "quick learner" could help.

Also. doing some research on the company, and what it does, and some general research on that particular industry may help. what companies are the customers of the company you are looking to be employed by? learning about them may help too.

I actually worked in an HR department in a previous life. Most of the want ads contain "if this was a perfect world, this is what we would want in a perfect employee." However, we all know that the world is indeed, NOT perfect. Go out there and apply for those jobs. More often than not you will get an interview with them... just make sure you don't dwell on what you don't know, but show off what you do know!

Good Luck with the search!

Hey, good luck with your searching. I'm in the hunt right now and it's pretty discouraging. So far my only offer has been for a job making half what I made at the job I got laid off from last year.
