For the few of you that have used the Christmas Gift List website that I created, you will be happy to know that I will be giving it a complete overhaul for this coming christmas. Last year was a nice testing ground to see if anyone was actually interested in using it, and I plan to make it an application that EVERYONE wants to use.
What can you look forward to?
- automated email reminders to you and those who have your list as their favorite
- rss/xml feed, so you can display your list on your own website
- graphical banners/badges to show your support
- easier navigation
- more intuitive interface
- more ranking options
- better image support
- and much more!
On a current project I am working on, I have a need for cross-browser drop-down menu's. I've searched for css only solutions, thinking that it would be a better implementation if I were to make heirarchical lists into menus & submenus. That didn't work. I've tried several other solutions (including very large javascript solutions). But by the time I had them retrofitted to fit my needs, they stopped working. To make matters worse, the page where the menu goes is center aligned, which means I can't just use absolute position to anchor them down where I need them to go. I tried writing one from scratch, which worked very well in firefox/safari, but was total crap in IE.
Anyone want to take a stab at telling me what I can do to get one of these menu's cross-browser compatable?
I've been using this plugin at work for a couple months now, and haven't had any problems with it. Shubert-IT has come up with a plugin for firefox that allows pdf's to open directly inside of the browser window. It sure does beat the heck out of opening preview everytime you come across a pdf online...
