I don't have faith, in faith based intiatives

So that state of the union thing... how bout that? I would generally say I'm in favor of Bush, he's not my favorite guy, but hey I can't really be president so he might as well be there. But I must say tonight everytime Bush announced some new sweeping grand scheme plan, I cringed. I like some of his ideas but its like, "We're gonna have tax cuts... and then we're gonna devote more money to schooling... then we're gonna cut some more taxes.... and then we're gonna devote more money to faith based intiatives." Its like "Woah Bush reality check, one or the other." Its like he's trying to do plans that are Democratic like faithbased stuff which is throwing tax payers money away like its a monopoly money to "faith based" groups. And then he's doing republican things like cutting taxes.
I like the tax cutting thing, thats fine and dandy but man the faith based thing is something governmetn doesn't need to do. I don't want government taking my tax money that i pay them and give it some religious group that I don't approve of or even know. I got used to the whole welfare thing i guess but this just seems like welfare for religious groups. "Your ministry is falling down on hard times here's a grant to help you get out there and make muslims, jews, christians, or heathens whatever your faith is based in go make good things come to life..." I think God can take care of his own ministries and destroy the ones he doesn't approve of with his own sort of providence. I mean think of it, Scientology can now claim tax money as a faith based thingy dingy. "Yeah we need the money to go reseed Tom Cruises lawn." The government goes, "Hmmm that seems like its helping the community, Tom needs new grass we'll pay for it with Chris Holton's tax money, he won't need it!"

The immigration thing, interesting idea, don't think it will work at all. Doesn't seem well thought out or well structured, think bush needs to rethink that one and come up with a plan. I don't know i worry about that bush.
Well I sort of maybe, possibly, have started writing for the Chattanooga Pulse. If you don't know what the Pulse is its the new trendy hip Chatty free-bee paper thats out in response to the Adnigma and the Chattanooga Scene That We Have No Clue About. I really like the Pulse and the more and more I read it the more and more I wanted to write for it, however I didn't want to write news articles. I wrote for the high school paper and every time I was assigned a news article I would make up all the interviews and quotes. I'd either quote the guy i road to school with or I'd make up a person's name. I never really got in trouble, no one ever really read those articles anyway. My favorite though was my humor column Chris's Complaints which was me ranting and raving about this and that. And you may say to yourself, "Chris you wrote for a paper, how your blog is a perfect sign of how bad of a writer you are, I mean you, put commas, every where, like its some, sort of, obligatory, word and you cant spel wurf carp." Well thats true. I can't argue with truf. But back then i had the best editor and he would edited my stuff about three times before it went to print and now I have Roe and Mesh as my editors and as long as they don't put in bad words or phrases like,"Chris takes it" I'll be fine. If they get done editing my piece in time expect to see it possibly in next week's issue. Either that or look for it in the trash where it most likely belongs. Oh, the sort of reporting I plan on doing is pretty funny, I'm going to be the video game reviewer. Well thats what i hope to do. I'd like to just work on my reviewing skills and put a lot of humor to the pieces but also get people to see another side of video games, the softer side. I will most likely review games that appear on all three consoles, PS2, Xbox and Gamecube as i only have a gamecube and don't really just want to write about cube games since josiah and i are the only people iin the world with a cube. SO i figure if i hit games that hit all three systems i'll be able to reach more people. I wish i could do some computer games however I may leave that to Roe or collaborate with him on those as my computer is in no shape to play anything made in the past two years. His isn't too much better but maybe we can hit the local Chattalan cafe for those pieces. So check out next week's pulse you can find it in most coffee shops and bars and stuff. Even if they decide not to publish my stuff and pass on me as the gamer reviewer still check it out its a great mag and way better than the scene. Mesh's movie reviews are funny and inciteful. And all the food reviews are right on the money it felt like i was writing them or that they were reading my mind.

holtie- I'm in no way a bush apologist, nor am I a huge fan of the faith based initiative thing, but I think you've got it wrong. FBI just enables the gov't to fund the charity work of certain groups (religious, civic, whatever) in a way of delegating the welfare services. I don't think its like welfare for churches. Then again, I didn't watch the SOTU speech because I was at the MIzzou bball game...
