Happy 2004 everybody.... now what. We went down to the Crabbs for new years and played settlers till 3 am. It was intense, one game led to some tears, others were just frusterating, while others were over before they started. They were good sports, I was so suprised how quick they picked up on the game, those smarties. I also got my gamecube back from crabb, now i just need some Mario Kart Action, right Roes?? We had a good time with them, and got a little taste of their Atkins lifestyle.... it was a little too greasy, sorry Crabbs. New Years night was great we had stirfry, champagne, wine, pistacios... good stuff. Though after a long night of coffee and alcohol I met Dr. Atkins style breakfast head on and after that night it was rough. Real bacon, strait from the pig, real eggs strait from the chicken, and some heafty biscuits strait from the Pilsbury dough boy. I haven't had real bacon in sooooo long. It was sooo good but man its hard on this belly. We're the hard core Turkey Bacon people, yep we try to stay on the kosher side, just incase we're wrong about this whole Christians can eat pork thing. I'm more of a cereal man too so anytime I eat real food for breakfast my stomach does a double take, "What the crap where's my Grapenuts? I don't know how to digest Eggs," says my stomach. The girls went out today and did some damage to the old checkbook, while Crabby and I rented some flicks. We got 28 Days and Identity. 28 Days was crabby's idea, just for the record. 28 was ok, not great but not horrendous. It was pretty well done for not a huge blockbuster and I must admit it was pretty cool to see the main character walking down down town london with no one there, we kept wondering how they filmed that. How do you get everyone out of down town london? It didn't look like a set or computer enhanced. The movie was interesting, a plague called Rage spreads through london and you don't know if its affected the whole world or just london. Is the whole world a zombie or just a bunch of brits? It really wasn't scarry but interesting in a way, think of it as a glimpse of Resident Evil (thats a game) and 12 monkees from a different take. I don't necessarily recommend it though, one thing I got annoyed with was all the gore and violence. Also the movie had four different endings, which to me shows a real crappy plot behind the movie. Its like, "Lets see.... we need to make a movie..... Zombies, yes, zombies should do. London? Yeah why not.... ending? Hmmmm..... lets make four and pick one at the end. Luckily they picked the best one but still. Also I like my horror movies to be more psychological and imply things instead of explicitly showing things. If you don't want to know the ending of Identity don't read the rest of this cause thats what i want to talk about....
I think Identity may have been tooo complex for my imagination. I think the story would have been cooler if all the people weren't personalities in the guys mind, that was a little hard to follow. I liked the movie a lot and thought it was more creepy than 28 days. John Cussack was pretty cool but I think the movie would have been a little more interesting if the story didn't switch between reality and the man's mind, though that was a pretty cool concept but hard to follow and differentiate.
I must say both movies weren't soooo scary. Identity was freaky, 28 days was ok, but neither scared me. Movies for me that scare me have to be believable. 28 days wasn't believable because the people kept making stupid decisions. OK zombies are attacking you in london where do you go???? Well if it were america you'd go to walmart pick up a few 20 guages and do what it takes. But them english have some stricter gun control so where do you go??? Policia my friends. They got the weapons, and with all the people dead and a few zombies you could waltz right in grab a few of them Brit automatic rifles and just go to a roof top and take zombies out like shootin fish in a barrel. But alas the people weren't that smart. Also one of the more scary movies of the year, the Ring, wasn't scarry for me after they showed the girl coming through the TV. I mean people dead or alive can't come out of TVs! Only Freddy Krueger, but he only does it out of means of necessity not for joys and kicks like Ring girl.
