As another example that the internet is in love with itself, there is an interesting article published on the internet about the internet. Blog on |CNET.com. Actually it was a blog about blogging.
As my friend put it, blogging is for students and the unemployed.
Posted by McKormick at October 22, 2003 02:03 AM | TrackBackSpeaking of vanity, you have got to be the vainest, most self-absorbed person on the 'net. I wish you'd just leave us all alone, sitting there all high and mighty.
I hope you get a paper cut and someone squeezes lemon juice on it.
Posted by: podge at October 22, 2003 08:19 AMHmmm. Don't agree with podge, largely 'cause I'd be surprised if anyone could surpass MY vanity, but that's besides the point.
In the tone of my vanity, I'll "entertain" your position a big and ask if you recognize the distintion between the internet as a technological tool/artifact, and the subjects who use it.
Isn't it the case that the internet is like a giant chalkboard: completely blank until we stepup and use it? The medium is only part of the message.
So my contention would be that if the "internet" is pure vanity it's because we (yes, the hundreds of millions who use the internet) are a vain lot.
Which I think is what pissed Podge off: you more or less walked into a room and called everyone names. Doesn't matter whether or not you're right or wrong, it's just a bit of a jerk thing to do.
Posted by: JosiahQ at October 22, 2003 08:46 AMpodge is only jealous of my bravado and mystique.
reading some of his posts will help to clear up the matter for you.
on the topic of the internet vs. the users, of course it is us that make it what it is, it is nothing on it's own. but how many books are there about books. how many movies are there about movies, how many tv shows are about tv shows. there is a ton of the web about the web. that's what i'm referring to. blogging about blogging. websites about websites. internet polls about internet polls. podge about podge.

Posted by: podge at October 22, 2003 04:11 PMYou commented to Wayne that you were once a pastor. So was I. I'd like to hear why you aren't now. You can email me if you want. Thanks.
