I've completed roughly 75% of my phone book delivering route. It's in Soddy Daisy, TN -- a town with too many hills.
The areas I've been delivering to, for the most part, have been depressing. People in this area are very poor. Some of the houses/trailers just SCREAM Meth lab, and on more than one occasion I've had to fend off angry dogs. I don't even think that some of these people have phones, which negates their need FOR a phone book.
While the route is not challenging, it IS challenging to deliver books to people's homes who are supposed to have address numbers on their house or mail box, but don't. A few times, I've just had to guess.
I have a few more streets to do. I don't think I'll be doing this again.

I have used the phone book for more than just looking up a phone number. I get addresses and some ads include the times a business is open. Plus I have used it for research on what kinds of businesses can meet my needs.
I greatly appreciate the people who deliver my phone book- it is a useful tool.

Three days ago, our new phone book was delivered. But not as it had been before -- carefully place on our porch, wrapped in a yellow plastic bag tied at the top. Instead, it was haphazardly cast onto the ground during a torrential downpour. The soaked, bloated book was then torn to tiny shreds and scattered for a quarter-mile by feral dogs.
