For the first time since Gretzky in the 86-87 season...

...the same player was named player of the month for two consecutive months. That player is Martin St. Louis of the formerly laughing stock turned Eastern Conference leader Tampa Bay Lightning.

Hot damn! Apparently I'm not the only hockey fan in the 'Noog. Can't say I'm happy about the TB victory last night, but I don't hate TB like I do Detroit, and Martin St. Louis is actually a pretty cool guy.

I'm sure you aren't the only hockey fan in Chattanooga, but I'm not one of them--I'm not in Chattanooga, I only have a blog on Chattablogs because I fall under the "friends of Josiah that he convinced to get blogs on Chattablogs" category. Hence, as I am actually in Florida, the Lightning is my team.

As for Martin St. Louis, I think it's pretty cool that a guy who is shorter than me (and who I'd tower over if I was wearing high heels) is able to be so dominant in a league where most players are 6'+.

Ah, that makes sense then. I spent most of my life in Colorado, so I'm a die-hard Avs fan. It is interesting to note the number of shorter hockey players that do well. Joe Sakic, captain of the Avs, is under 6', as is Paul Kariya. It really comes down to the style of hockey each person plays, and sometimes it seems like the shorter guys almost have an advantage with their balance.

I'm a hockey fan, and I'm living in Chattanooga (until May)!
