proposal done

Well - I finally got the rough draft of our church proposal done - it was long time in the coming. Now I have to work on the timeline and the budget. Whew - boy will I be glad when these steps are done.

My mentor is going to teach me how to work get organized in my life and ministry - to become more adminstratively organized.

I also have two learning contract coming up that I have to get started on.

Wow - what a boring life I have. all work and no play makes Brandon - well, I guess busy.

I am still in a daze after the movie last night. Maybe I am not as cool as some others but it really had an impact on me and my bible reading - I cannot view the gospels the same way. It was just tough to see the one I love the most die - especially when I realize it was my fault.

busy week

I have had a tremendously busy week. Yesterday I thought would never end. I have so much going on sometimes that I want to freak out. So.. I am attempting to become better organized and to develop my skills at administration . I am being mentored by a church planter right now and I am attempting to develop a church proposal. The interesting thing is that what we are doing with house/ relational church is so new that the innovation that we can come up with is endless. The bad part is that since no one has quite done what we are doing there is certain way to do it. This fact is hard for me, one who is not good at putting things on paper. But it must be done - to show the people in our fellowship that we mean business and that we do have a destination and also so that I can limit myself from all the endless ideas that I can come up with. So administration I will learn.

No one said that church planting would be all fun and games - but I will do it because I am called.

greenhouse

This past weekend Sandy, Scott and I went to a church planting conference - Greenhouse in Georgia. We left on Thursday - spent the night in Tuscaloosa, AL and drove on through Friday.

We had no idea that the conference was sponsored by the Adventists - and we were in for a real suprise. I felt a little out of place - but after no caffiene we finally started to get used to it (Sandy and I had been not doing caffiene for awhile - Scott and I did go out and get him some instant coffee - hehe)

We had a great time and learned a great deal. Neil and Kevin did a great job even though I could tell some people just did not get the concept of relational church and accountability. We took away from the conference a great hope that house church or simple church can be done where we live.
We got to hook up with some non-adventist christians in a forum on Sat. night and we made some good connections. I also finally got to meet Kevin after reading his blog for months. I kinda felt voyeurish " Hi Kevin, my name is Brandon Spain I read your blog - but you have no idea who I am..." but I was glad to meet him, Neil and Aaron (who's blog is here)

I believe after this conference the fabric of our church is about to change. Praise God!

I am pretty busy with school and the church plant as well as trying to manage a family as well. But I am resolved to post more on my blog.

Just got back

It is 7:40 Sunday evening at I just got back from the Greenhouse in Georgia.
It was a great conference - I will blog more about it later.

I am so glad to see my son - it is amazing how he grows everytime I leave to go somewhere. The joys of a father for a son - how God must feel to have many sons and daughters.

Time to unpack.
