This past weekend Sandy, Scott and I went to a church planting conference - Greenhouse in Georgia. We left on Thursday - spent the night in Tuscaloosa, AL and drove on through Friday.
We had no idea that the conference was sponsored by the Adventists - and we were in for a real suprise. I felt a little out of place - but after no caffiene we finally started to get used to it (Sandy and I had been not doing caffiene for awhile - Scott and I did go out and get him some instant coffee - hehe)
We had a great time and learned a great deal. Neil and Kevin did a great job even though I could tell some people just did not get the concept of relational church and accountability. We took away from the conference a great hope that house church or simple church can be done where we live.
We got to hook up with some non-adventist christians in a forum on Sat. night and we made some good connections. I also finally got to meet Kevin after reading his blog for months. I kinda felt voyeurish " Hi Kevin, my name is Brandon Spain I read your blog - but you have no idea who I am..." but I was glad to meet him, Neil and Aaron (who's blog is here)
I believe after this conference the fabric of our church is about to change. Praise God!
I am pretty busy with school and the church plant as well as trying to manage a family as well. But I am resolved to post more on my blog.
Hey Brandon,
Great meeting you at Greenhouse! I look forward to hearing more of the journey you are on, both missionally and ecclesiastically! Blessings on the way.
