I was reading this letter by Fr. Bill Attwood who quoted a phrase from the Windsor Report.
The relevant phrase (pdf file) is the opening sentence of Section A Paragraph 28 and reads: "The overwhelming response from other Christians both inside and outside the Anglican family has been to regard these developments as departures from genuine, apostolic Christian faith."
That is to say, ECUSA, in allowing the blessing of same-sex unions, and the ordaining of sexually active gays and lesbians to the Eucharistic ministry, is proclaiming heresy and is heretical.
This judgment, that ECUSA has departed from the "genuine, apostolic Christian faith", not from some alien agency, but from the Anglican Communion's own duly deputed commission. This is Anglicans calling their fellow Anglicans heretics. Officially.
Wow.
