On the VeggieTales quiz Anna:

On the VeggieTales quiz
Anna: I'm Larry
BJ: What does Larry mean?
Anna: Bob is the level-headed, responsible, worrier
Anna: Larry is the dumb, silly one
Anna: with no common sense!
BJ: Well if the pickle fits

I'm sorry that I haven't

I'm sorry that I haven't posted lately. I just haven't had anything to say. Along with working all the time, making trips back and forth Minden (where the bridesmaids/bridal shop is), trying to get some stuff done around my house, and this wedding stuff going on this weekend, I'm just swamped.

Collect for the Seventh Sunday

Collect for the Seventh Sunday After Epiphany O Lord God, who seest that we put not our trust in any thing that we do; Mercifully grant that by thy power we may be defended against all adversity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Jesus, We Adore Thee
O Jesus, we adore Thee,
Upon the cross, our King!
We bow our hearts before Thee,
Thy gracious Name we sing.
That Name hath brought salvation,
That Name in life our stay,
Our peace, our consolation,
When life shall fade away.

Yet doth the world disdain Thee,
Still passing by the cross;
Lord, may our hearts retain Thee;
All else we count but loss.
Ah, Lord, our sins arraigned Thee,
And nailed Thee to the tree;
Our pride, our Lord, disdained Thee;
Yet deign our Hope to be.

O glorious King, we bless Thee,
No longer pass Thee by;
O Jesus, we confess Thee
The Son enthroned on high.
Lord, grant to us remission;
Life through Thy death restore;
Yea, grant us fruition
Of life forevermore.

Well, it's about dang time.

Well, it's about dang time. I posted last month about a rat residing in between the floors of my two story house that I share with my landlady. Finally, after almost two months of it keeping her up at night and me freaking out about a rat in the house, we got it. It woke me up out of a dead sleep about 20 mintues ago and I had no idea what I was hearing. I heard vocies at the same time and realized that those were from my clock radio I had left on. I walked out into the hallway to figure out what the other noise was. It was some banging around on the other side of the trap door to get the bathtub plumming where we had set a couple of traps. When I finally realized what it was I called my landlady and woke her up to ask if she had heard what happened while the creature flopped around for a few minutes. She hadn't (TV up too loud and she was sleeping too) and said her dad will come dispose of it tomorrow while I'm at church. It's about time we're rid of it. I just hope this was the only one; it really scared me.

UPDATE: When he went to check it this morning the rat had gotten away, but not without leaving a LOT of his hair on the sticky trap.

Trinity (old blue) # 273

Trinity (old blue) # 273
Christ hath a garden walled around,
A Paradise of fruitful ground,
Chosen by love and fenced by grace
From out the world's wide wilderness.

Like trees of spice his servants stand,
There planted by his mighty hand;
By Eden's gracious streams, that flow
To feed their beauty where they grow.

Awake, O wind of heav'n and bear
Their sweetest perfume through the air:
Stir up, O south, the boughs that bloom,
Till the beloved Master come:

That he may come, and linger yet
Among the trees that he hath set;
That he may evermore be seen
To walk amid the springing green.

My next three Saturdays: Feburary

My next three Saturdays:
Feburary 22: Bridesmaids lunch in Monroe, movie with the girls, lingerie shower at 5
March 1: Mattson/Crain wedding
March 8: Work 9-1 in a teller window, which I've never done aside from training (and that was with fake people and fake money)

What is it about 10

What is it about 10 pm that makes all the dogs in my neighborhood start barking? It seems the past couple of nights, they've done that. One might suggest earplugs, but how am I to hear the alarm in the morning?

Yesterday I wanted to turn

Yesterday I wanted to turn on the AC in my apartment because it was so warm and humid outside. And today the high is in the 40s. Only in Louisiana.

O God, whose blessed Son

O God, whose blessed Son was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil, and make us the sons of God, and heirs to eternal life; Grant us, we beseech thee, that having this hope, we may purify ourselves, evenas He is pure; that when He shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto Him in His eternal and glorious kingdom; where with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, He liveth and reigneth ever, one God, world without end. Amen.

God, my King, Thy might confessing,
Ever will I bless Thy Name;
Day by day Thy throne addressing,
Still will I Thy praise proclaim.

Honor great our God befitteth;
Who His majesty can reach?
Age to age His works transmitteth,
Age to age His power shall teach.

They shall talk of all Thy glory,
On Thy might and greatness dwell,
Speak of Thy dread acts the story,
And Thy deeds of wonder tell.

Nor shall fail from memory’s treasure
Works by love and mercy wrought;
Works of love surpassing measure,
Works of mercy passing thought.

Full of kindness and compassion,
Slow to anger, vast in love,
God is good to all creation;
All His works His goodness prove.

All Thy works, O Lord, shall bless Thee;
Thee shall all Thy saints adore:
King supreme shall they confess Thee,
And proclaim Thy sovereign power.

How come whenever you lose

How come whenever you lose someone close to you and you think you're over it and ten years down the road you read something and really you're not and cried like it was only yesterday?

Have any of you girls

Have any of you girls ladies ever thought about walking into a Pentacostal church with hair shorter than shoulder-length and pants on for a Sunday service just to see the reaction of the people there? I passed by 1st Pentacostal here in Ruston earlier today and thought about how they would look at me, and if any noses would turn. Just a thought.

Prayers from the 1928 BCP

Prayers from the 1928 BCP
O ALMIGHTY God, the supreme Governor of all things, whose power no creature is able to resist, to whom it belongeth justly to punish sinners, and to be merciful to those who truly repent; Save and deliver us, we humbly beseech thee, from the hands of our enemies; that we, being armed with thy defence, may be preserved evermore from all perils, to glorify thee, who art the only giver of all victory; through the merits of thy Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY God, who hast created man in thine own image; Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil, and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice among men and nations, to the glory of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O LORD God of Hosts, stretch forth, we pray thee, thine almighty arm to strengthen and protect the soldiers of our country. Support them in the day of battle, and in the time of peace keep them safe from all evil; endue them with courage and loyalty; and grant that in all things they may serve without reproach; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Yeah, baby "'Texas is like

Yeah, baby
"'Texas is like whole other country'; yeah I'll grant you that one, but Louisiana? It's like a whole other world!"

To go...or not to go...that

To go...or not to go...that is the question
I'm trying to decide if I really want to go to North Carolina in May for a wedding. I'll get to see Matt, Kristen, (maybe even Rick???), Katherine (the bride) and the Renches (her family which is GREAT). The only thing keeping me is time off from work and (of course) having the funds available. I've got to talk to my manager tomorrow about getting that Friday off for my only long weekend this year. Maybe if I flip a coin...did you know that if you flip a quarter 100 times that it wouldn't be 50:50? I heard somewhere that the head side is heavier, thus making it fall the the ground "face first". But I digress. Eenie, meenie, miney, mo....

For the first time in

For the first time in 2 years
...I missed worship. I can count the number of times on one hand that I've been providentially hindered from attending Sunday morning worship since being at Knox. After hosting a bridal shower yesterday afternoon, I felt zapped. I thought it was just because of the work envolved and I was just tired. Little did I know that I was coming down with the flu. I felt awful last night and still do today. (Thank goodness for Dayquil.) Maybe I'll still be sick tomorrow and won't have to go to work. That seems like a fair tradeoff. :)

Collect for the Fourth Sunday

Collect for the Fourth Sunday After Ephiphany
O God, who knowest us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright; Grant to us such strength and protection, as may support us in all dangers, and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Come, Christians, Join to Sing
Come, Christians, join to sing
Alleluia! Amen!
Loud praise to Christ our King;
Alleluia! Amen!
Let all, with heart and voice,
Before His throne rejoice;
Praise is His gracious choice.
Alleluia! Amen!

Come, lift your hearts on high,
Alleluia! Amen!
Let praises fill the sky;
Alleluia! Amen!
He is our Guide and Friend;
To us He’ll condescend;
His love shall never end.
Alleluia! Amen!

Praise yet our Christ again,
Alleluia! Amen!
Life shall not end the strain;
Alleluia! Amen!
On heaven’s blissful shore,
His goodness we’ll adore,
Singing forevermore,
“Alleluia! Amen!”
