I passed Element 2 (Technician license) for amateur radio today! I'll post my call sign on here, but I won't be on the airwaves right yet. I need to find a rig first. Any thoughts on a first radio?

So...I got bored with my other layout and decided to try a new layout. Although it's on the "default" MovableType 3.x template, I think it looks pretty good. Might go through some changes in color schemes and such, but let me know what you guys think.

There has been a great loss in the tech community today. Some of you might have heard the Kati Kim and her kids were found safe. Unfortunately, James did not make it. For those who may not know, James was an editor for C|Net and a former guest on The Screen Savers and other shows on the now defunct TechTV. Our prayers are with his family and especially his children. He will be missed greatly....

Ok, not literally for passing gas. Apparently a woman broke wind on an American Airlines flight coming out of Reagan National in Washington. She decided that the pleasant smell of burnt matches would be more pleasant than her rank gas. Well, her quest of keeping her dignity was thwarted when the airplane was forced to make an emergency landing when they smelled something burning. Everyone was evacuated off of the plane and bomb-sniffing dogs brought on. They found the spent matches. The woman was questioned and she said that she used the matches to conceal the foul odor and told them she has a medical condition (must be pretty bad gas).

Moral of today's story? Mexican food and long flights don't mix.
