barrie good

This is the lazy girl's way of dovetailing blog topics when certain servers remain stubbornly non-cooperative for massive lengths of time -- go read literary-related post here (on what C.S. Lewis' birthday and Finding Neverland could possibly have in common), if you should so desire.

low maintenance

between the bricks and pine boughs
next to the swaying lamp

we are quiet friends
i suppose there are those
who suppose that they know
all that there is
to know
but they do not know
we are friends

between the sweeping church bells
next to the parking lot

we are limited
we are patched up and worn
we regret to inform
them this is all
there is
and they do not know
we are friends

between the gasps for fresh air
next to the gap of years

we are open now
i am sure that i speak
with a halt, and i seek
too much, no, all
that is
still they need not know
we are friends

jars on the banks

I love having a room with view. I woke unusually early and alert this morning. After attempting to read and pray through some things (I think I wrote less than a sentence in my journal), I unfolded from my hunched-by-the-space-heater position next to the table in my office and peered over the windowsills. It was easy to surmise that the sunrise was going to be nice. So I opted to take my dazed self down to the riverbank. I also took my coat, two blueberry donuts, my new *free* iPod, my digital camera, my cell phone and my keys (sad, I know...such a child of the times), but it wasn't too much to carry. (At least I left the space heater behind.) And it was worth the weight, just to get some quiet time alone, to sit on a bench under sky and to know that just because I don't have the words doesn't mean I'm not being heard....

that's my boy

The handsome guy to George Bailey's [Jason Harrison's] left, in the camel suit and striped tie.

Oh, yeah. He may not be able to keep up with his weblog, but the brother is multi-talented.
