The article can be found on Salon (possible ad-viewing required, I'm afraid). I don't really have much to say except, "Umm." It's pretty explicit, so heads up.

Posted by: j.krue at October 1, 2003 03:59 PMWell, since y'all are scared to talk about sex, I'll thrust ahead. (Rim shot.) This is the second article I've read in Salon in the last month suggesting that a big part of the problem with modern relationships is that everybody wants to sleep with a best friend, instead of a lover who is more remote and perhaps offers more sexual spark due to that Otherness. Does this dichotomy resonate as a fair analysis? Is there something about the gender divide that is at least paradoxical with friendship? Is this part of the reason so many young people are scared of marriage: they want someone they can both be vulnerable with and have be sexually attracted to them, when these two things are in fact irreconcilable? Is that even a word? Questions, questions.
Posted by: mesh at October 1, 2003 04:19 PMDamned if I know. Any time the married couples want to chime in, go right ahead.
Posted by: ryan at October 1, 2003 04:41 PMI honestly don't remember ever being the slightest bit scared of getting married at any point in my life.
