Rumor has it that in an episode of Jeopardy that was taped Tuesday, Ken Jennings lost in his 75th game. It is of course unnamed sources, but if it's true, the episode will be airing sometime this fall. The story is that he ends up with somewhere around $2.5 million. Yesterday's episode was Jennings' 41st day on the show, and his total is now at $1,380,661.
Update 11-30-04: I'm closing the comments section on this entry because I'm sick of having to go back and delete profanity laden comments. Also, there are more important things in the world than whether or not Jennings is an arrogant whatever, and I suggest that all of you who are arguing read about them. For example, how about if you all go read about the election situation in Ukraine, it's probably the most significant world event right now.

If it does happen, the guy who finally beats him will have to wait two weeks to defend because of the Pittsburgh shows.

Watch when Mister-thinks-he-knows-everything is playing and how closely he watches the scoring. And the familiarity with which he addresses Alex...and his cutesy way of pretending he's not sure of the answer when he is absolutely positive of the answer. He's a beady-eyed asshole in my opinion and I can't wait for him to lose so I can go back to enjoying Jeopardy!!!

I think you guys are being rediculous. Ken is amazing. There is a reason he is so famous. No one has ever come close to what he has done. He's brilliant. He is a genius. And he seems to be pretty darn modest about it if you ask me. I am going to be really depressed when he loses because he is what makes the show interesting. And I like how Ken and Alex are so friendly to each other. I sure dont find anything wrong with that, ms jean. But whatever-- thats your opinion. As far looking unintelligent or boring, that's the nature of the show. It's not one of those I-can-jump-up-and-down-and-squeal-the-most game shows like Let's Make a Deal...it's more cerebral. Ken does NOT know EVERYTHING, but he's obviously QUICK on the button, and not afraid to take a chance when he's not exactly sure of the answer. He does know much more than the average guy or he wouldn't have lasted as long as he has. He's wholesome and moral and not ashamed of his religion, and not awed by "big star" Alex, and I say that's refreshing! It has been fun to watch and I hope Ken wins and wins and wins!!! GO KEN!!!!

I admit that some of the zip has gone out of the show in terms of watching contestants battle each other but I am amazed by the brilliance of this man and watch the show every night to see if he can withstand another challenge. I wish I had 10% of his intelligence. I admire him and will definitely keep watching the show. Too bad there are so many jealous folks out there that won't use Ken as a symbol of the heights that can be achieved in life with proper focus on the right things. I encourage my children to watch the show, if only to instill in them a sense of purpose about the value of education, reading, etc.

Most of the contestants that I've seen, wheather they're briefed on subjects or not, have a fairly reasonable grip on the catagories at hand or own a pretty high IQ. It seems unlikely for Ken to beat them comfortably most of the time, unless randomly the contestants are not as bright as previous ones or this was set up this way intentionally.

Sounds to me like you need to get a life. You have got to be either dense or ignorant not to realize the marvel of Ken Jennings. What he has accomplished is amazing, and you could only dream of having a fraction of his intelligence. Looking at Ken's biography he has a exellcent educational background. He has been in quiz contests for a lot of years. He has a keen memory and is a remarkable contestant. For all you folks that are quiting watching the program go for it. Ken Jennings has increased the viewers of this program in leaps and bounds. Everyone loves a winner. I do have a certain amount of respect for the man. Yes, he is smart. However, he is hogging the whole show. Other people should be given a chance to make some money. What does a 30 year old need 2.5 million for? Some people are struggling just to feed their families. No one says anything about Jeff or Rob, the guys who actually gave him a run for his money.
