Dean pandering to Confederate flag wavers

What the heck was Howard Dean thinking when he said that he wants the support of southerners with Confederate flags on their trucks? If a Republican candidate had said such a thing, everybody from Jesse Jackson, to Al Sharpton, to the NAACP to every Democratic politician would be calling for that candidate to drop out of the race. Howard Dean, on the other hand, does get criticism from his fellow candidates, but not the sort of firestorm that it would have generated if a Republican had said it.

The way it appears to me, either Howard Dean is stupid and made a major misstep, or else it was a strategic move because he already knows that black voters aren't going to support him, because they sure as heck aren't going to support a guy who panders to people who they see as racist. Either that, or this is a clear example of how much the Democrats have taken black voters for granted and Dean thinks that he's still going to be able to get black votes even after playing to the confederate flag wavers.

Yep. This is exactly it - by far.
