Friday Food Follies

All the Friday food news I could find.

A burrito is not a sandwich:

You don't get judicial rulings like this one:

"A sandwich is not commonly understood to include burritos, tacos and quesadillas, which are typically made with a single tortilla and stuffed with a choice filling of meat, rice, and beans," [Superior Court Judge Jeffrey] Locke wrote in a decision released last week.

Your tax dollars at work.

Astronauts eat moose meat

Boldly going where no man has gone before:

The first Swede in space knows just what to serve his astronaut colleagues for dinner: moose and crisp bread.

Christer Fuglesang, who is set to become the first Swedish astronaut to embark on a space mission next month, said Thursday he will bring a decidedly Scandinavian flavor to the food menu aboard the International Space Station.

Fuglesang will serve dried moose meat, crisp bread and gingerbread cookies — a Christmas favorite in Sweden — to his colleagues on one of the 12 days he is set to spend on the ISS.

Sounds yummy.

And last but not least--

Transfat actually helps guard against heart attacks

The money quote:

In the so-called “Health Professional Follow-up Study,” more than 43,000 male health professionals were studied for six years to examine the association between dietary fats and heart disease. Although the “raw” results indicated positive correlations between trans fat consumption and heart disease, when other confounding risk factors for heart disease were considered, the correlation with heart disease became statistically insignificant and the correlation with fatal heart attacks became inverted – that is, trans fat consumption slightly reduced the risk of fatal heart attack!

Honey! Where's my KFC Buhkitt O' Lawrd?

Hope all that makes you hungry. Enjoy your weekend.
