What happened to Disney after

What happened to Disney after The Lion King?

I was an avid Disney follower all through The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, and, like the rest of the Presbyterian world at the time, I didn't go see Pocahontas. By the time that fiasco was over, I was too old to be paying good money to see cartoons in the theatre, so I missed all the others.

Over the course of the past few months, I have seen Mulan, Tarzan, Pocahontas, and The Emperor's New Groove. And apart from a soft spot for Tarzan (because I'm a shameless Phil Collins fan), I think they're all awful. And I'm not even talking about all the "hidden agenda" stuff that people get so worked up over--the movies aren't even funny!

So is it just nostalgia that makes me partial to the Disney of the early 90's? Or are there real quality issues at stake here?
