I too have had my breath taken away on many occasions with Repin's work. In fact, my favorite Repin is called "The Rejected Confession" which has held my mesmorized gaze many times.
I'm glad you appreciated it.
btw, if you appreciate Repin's painting, you'll love Dostoyevsky's writing. Repin paints like Dostoyevsky writes.
