SERIES RECORD - USC leads the series, which dates back to 1929, 27-37-7, and has won the last three meetings. USC won last year's game at the Coliseum, 27-0. UCLA won eight straight games between 1991-98, twice as long a string as any previous streak in the series, and is 13-8-1 versus USC since the start of the 1980s. UCLA head coach Bob Toledo is 3-3 versus the Trojans. UCLA is 7-3 vs. USC at the Rose Bowl. This is the first time USC has entered the game ranked in the Top 25 since 1995. UCLA has won the last four games (1992, 1993, 1994 and 1995) in which USC has been ranked. The last time both schools were ranked entering the game was 1993, when No. 16 defeated No. 22 USC, 27-21, at the Coliseum. UCLA has won three of the last four games in which both teams were ranked, dating back to 1982. The last time the schools met at the Rose Bowl (2000), the Bruins lost by a score of 38-35. A field goal with nine seconds remaining provided USC with the margin of victory. The Bruins had tied the game with 1:05 remaining when Cory Paus scored on a one-yard run on fourth down to culminate a 75-yard drive.
