"No traveller shall introduce confusion into the churches either by ordaining or by enthroning. Nevertheless in Churches which are among the heathen the tradition of the Fathers shall be preserved."I have wondered of late, and have condemned myself all the more, why for so long I've neglected such a rich and enormous body of church history? How many men versed in Scripture, studied in language, indeed sons of the companions to the Apostles have written words, have passed on teaching that I have thus ignored? The foundation I stand on is indeed a Christian foundation, but it is a foundation laid, by God's grace, in the pen of many souls who have toiled tirelessly to protect the truth of God's word. Protestant though I am, I am proud and humbled to stand on the backs of those saints who have lived before me. Praise be to God for His preservation of the remnant throughout time! May the gates of Hell never prevail against Christ's bride. May God allow me to grow in the knowledge of His church: HIStory.
Ancient Epitome of Canon II of the Second Ecumenical Council A.D. 381
How many Protestants borrow from The Church's history, yet pay little heed to its teachings? I am one.
