Friday: Final at 8 a.m. (I'm contemplating dropping the course) The dread of doing such is killing me, but I have to make the right decision for my gpa. How did I get in this mess? Very simply. As I was telling my turtleneck girl, I've been doing "leisure reading" instead of homework. All I have wanted to do this quarter, or though it would seem from the outside, is to read what I want to read. Brothers, Calvin, Rushdoony, Westminster, Holy Writ, Newspapers, Sore League, Postman, etc. I've scored well on all my exams in Spanish up till now--now I have my final tomorrow and I do not feel prepared. This being the case I do not want a B- or worse a C+ to ruin my gpa...this is why dropping is tempting me. I know I know.
After Linguistics class I have to jam down to O.C. in order to take part in the Christmas program at CRC.
Saturday: my father's birthday. Praise God for allowing him relative health thus far. May he be blessed with long life as the Bible promises those who honor their mother and father: my father, for years, was truly the only sibling to take care of his mother after her stroke, and his father, who seemed distant from all the relatives, spent time with or at least visited and saw my father most. May God grant me the strength, diligence, and courage to take care of my parents if, and when, they need me. I've often thought it would be a blessing for my children to have their elderly grandparents living in the same home. "their grey hair is as a crown of grace upon their head." ~~proverbs My father served in Germany during Vietnam, he attained an AA degree, and he has since worked his butt off supporting his family. God bless my family.
Sunday: church followed almost immediately by a special rehearsal (geared to warm us up for the studio), from there I will spend what is most likely going to be 8 hours laying down the drum tracks to at least 5 of our new songs. May God's grace be with this endeavor; may our talent and hard work demonstrate itself on disc. I am truly blessed to be a part of this creative process known as life after darla. Just wait until you hear the new stuff!!! It's gonna be awesome.
I'll be getting home to Westwood sometime after 2 or 3 a.m. only to have two finals monday. Thank God my Philosophy of Mind final isn't until 3 p.m. I'll be ready. After that I have my first night on the floor at Banana...should be fun. By the way, Banana a polar opposite to Guess. The people are friendly, the management is professional, the clothes are great, and the general atmosphere is altogether ideal. Good riddance Guess. Thanks to God for an answer to prayer.
It's the little things...like calling late on the cell phone to make sure all is safe and sane...that make one feel special.
