Imagine this:
a bartender speaking this: "I used to be a contender..."
But, just as he is about to say "...contender"
A man at the bar says: "Bartender! get me a drink." So that "bartender" is heard over "contender."
All present believe the bartender said "I used to be a...bartender"
Two things. One: maybe in order to be a contender once again he should leave his bartending job. this would make the statement "used to be a bartender" true and it would falsify "I used to be a contender; because he would once again be a contender.
two: if the bartender remains a bartender and still believes "I used to be a contender" then he will never say the words "I used to be a bartender."
There is a moral to this story.
