Well its been a long time since I blogged last. Mostly because I don't have internet anymore. We got rid of our high speed due to its cost and switched to high speed dial up. Well after tiring of the 30 minute waits for a site to pull up i felt it pointless to have internet. This being said we also incurred long distance charges because the dial up numbers they gave me were all long distance though the same area code... yeah i'm going to have to fight that one. Not sure who to yell at, phone company for charging me for numbers in my own area or netzero for giving me bogus numbers.
Life is ok. Baby stuff is crazy and wonderful. There's a certain feeling of dread as the day approaches because frankly I'm not qualified to be a father, but then again when was i ever qualified to do anything.
We're kid watching this weekend, thus the ability to post.
There's more to life than this but the computer I'm on is saturated with popups and not of the clean variety so I'm going ot have to sign off.

Hey, maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Well, I have my theory about what's going on but, I'll tell you over the phone.
Posted by: Chris T. at January 27, 2006 10:52 PMTheory about what...slow internet, long distance fraud? Pray do tell.
Posted by: Scott at January 27, 2006 11:31 PMNo, Lookout Mtn.
Posted by: Chris T. at January 28, 2006 11:30 AMTrimmer, what ARRRRRE you talking about?...I like your theories.
Posted by: obscene gene at January 28, 2006 07:33 PMSeriously Gene, I just don't see the connection implied by the idiomatic use of the word "Well."
"Maybe it is a blessing in disguise" (assuming you're talking about the lack of internet) and "Well, I have a theory about that..." (about Lookout Mt). Somewhere there's a logical jump that only Chris and Chris know about (assuming Chris called Chris).
Posted by: Scott at January 29, 2006 12:36 AMWell, here it is but, it may be disappointing after the build-up: The theory is that both problems come about due to his location being on Lookout Mtn - being charged long distance and also the lack of variety in internet providers. Geographically, you have problems and that may affect the phone service. Next, that is a more exclusive area and is more tightly controlled all around. So, that trickles down to what overall services/businesses make it up there, are able to "make it" there or otherwise, have a foothold. It's not too far-fetched to extend that to internet providers. As for actual facts, I only know that there's no fast food or movie theaters.
Posted by: Chris T. at January 29, 2006 01:20 PMoh...trimmer...frankly I'm disappointed....I was so hoping for something much more diabolical and complicated than a lack of competitive internet companies in an otherwise isolated, affluent part of chattanooga...something more to do with hidden caverns connecting certain houses on the mountian...and strange masonic cerimonies.
Posted by: obscene gene at January 29, 2006 03:23 PMHey Pete, I just figured out that was you.
I'm going to change gears but, this is something up your alley: I've got a problem with my old car, the 92 Honda Civic. It's still running but, I have no idea how because the transmission is shot. Also, it needs a new headlight. Also, the tag is expired and in order to get a new one, I have to get the emissions test which I have a feeling it will fail. But, in any case, I just got a warning that the people at the apt's are going to tow it due to the tag. So, it leads me to wonder if it's really worth trying to salvage this car. I almost want to sell it to a garage or something for parts. What do you think?
Posted by: Chris T. at January 29, 2006 05:49 PMI get it!!..."change gears"...Well, first of all tranneys aren't cheap...talking cars here...but they can be pulled from the car and sent away to a rebuild shop there in town. Emmissions..Is the "check engine" light on...if so I think Honda's that model year have a Diagnostic light under the passenger side floor mat...it's a green "eye" LED light that flashes a code at you and in your car's manual you will be able to read the code...that will tell you that you have an emmissions problem or not.-->newer cars do not have this readable code with out an OBD reader.. I love that model/year civic b/c they are easy to work on and are super reliable and can get 35 miles to the gallon...is it a manual or automatic transmission? I would encourage you to keep it if you can move it somewhere temporarily while I get a chance to come up there and look at it with you...a garage won't give you but 1 or 2 hundred bucks for it and will in turn probably fix it up and re-sell it for profit.
Posted by: obscene gene at January 30, 2006 12:01 PMYeah, I thought you'd like that...
Anyway, too late. I was able to call this mechanic who helped me with my VW. I sold it to him. The thing was, the warning gave me until Tuesday. They actually put a sticker on the car, written out like a ticket. I would've had to rush around today, figuring out a place to put it in the meantime - otherwise, I would've had a $150 towing bill - plus, they charge by the day to store it. Then, I'm still left with the fact that a transmission would be $2000 to $2300. The KBB fair value is only $1730. So, I called a couple of people to bounce ideas off and then, went ahead and got rid of it. If you really want it, I can give you the number of the garage that has it. He'd probably sell it for $300 to maybe $500. Overall, the guy is honest but, you got to keep in mind the field he's in.
