Real Tree vs Fake Tree
This year thanks in part to the inlaws, we have a fake tree. I must say it was hard for me to get excited about a faker after growing up with real trees all my life. Last year down in Ft O we had a realbie and it was great, and I thought I had won the battle of real over fake with the wifey...that was until we were given a fakie for free. 
No matter how much i love real pine trees, I like my money more... and 60 bucks for a tree vs free is no real debate. Plus we've already got it set up, decorated and when we go out we don't have to worry about watering it or anything. So we're fakies now and its not that bad. At least now we can leave the tree up to march and not have a floor covered in pine needles.
fake trees are better for allergies too.
both michelle and I have fond memories of "putting the tree together" each year, which I guess seems a bit odd, but that's the modern technology for ya.

Might as well start calling it XMas, instead of Christmas, if you take the tree out of it.
Holton, Food Lion sells decent ones for $30.00. You can still burn the fake one, if there's not too much plastic.
Oh... did you say you agreed to get a real tree before you were married?
You did.
Are you sure you shouldn't be sticking to your guns about things you agreed to, either that or start eating mayonaise again.
Or maybe you are growing wiser, and realizing that things you agreed to, before you were married, really have no basis in reality at all.
I hope you didn't agree to be nice to each other.

There are more lights on the prelit tree than I would ever imagine putting on a real tree. All we do to set it up is put the three sections together, tweak the branches some and presto -- near perfect tree!
Of course, if you visit my family blog you'll read that this year it was somewhat frustrating. The downside of the prelit trees is that when a strand goes bad, it's a pain in the arse to fix it. Either you go bulb by bulb and hope you find them all, or you rip the strand off and hope to have the patience to wind it back on as good as it was before it blew.

(my mother tried one once. While away, we dismantled it, pitched in a bought a REAL one and had it set up by the time she returned.
She was mad at first but realized how much a REAL tree meant to us.) BURN IT
I think it's hilarious that people are so passionate about real trees. You're all tree Nazis. It's a matter of personal preference.

I am over sweeping 2 or 3 times a day to keep my house clean, and I am over spending 6 hours every year putting lights on before I start decorating. I got real clippings and made a wreath so my house smells good, and my tree looks good, and all in all it's less work for me.
