Christian American Idol

We went out to a Christian American Idol thingy tonight out in Bonnie Oaks. A friend of ours entered a music contest for the heck of it and ended up getting in as a finalyst so we went out to support her. It was pretty hard not to laugh at some of the bands. Some were just terrible, some were good, and others were just average. The prize for winning the contest was a free recording session and a possible shot at the big time.
One band seemed to rip off elements of Ozzie and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Another band sounded like a Christian OAR and were pretty good. One band had a good singer kind of a Third Day sounding guy but the guitar was so terrible that I had to get up and leave because it gave me a desire to stab forks in my head. Our friend didn't win, but she made some good contacts. Her song by far was the most deep of all the songs we heard and I think she's angling more for the song writer thing anyway. But it was fun and decent entertainment for free.
