Larry Walker Walks over to the Cardinals

Oh yeah, the hitters just keep on hitting. The cards got Larry Walker today which is kind of cool. Larry Walker is one of those hitters who's always been pretty dang good, but on a pretty dang bad team. Now that he's with the cards maybe he can make some waves. Not sure where we'll put him as we seem to have an abundance of hitters at the moment... maybe he can pitch? I'm guessing Walt Jockety thought it'd be a good deal for walker, get him out of the dead end job of Colorado and into a real baseball town, as well as get some insurance if someone gets injured on the way to playoffs or something. I like it because its not a high profile trade in the sense of randy johnson or something like that. It was totally out of the blue which is the way i like my trades.

Not only is Walker a great hitter (career .315 batting average and three batting titles), he also has 7 gold gloves and more put outs than Edmonds. Right now, there isn't a better 1-6 in the majors. I am guessing they will bat him 2nd, going lefty-lefty-righty-righty-lefty-righty (Womack, Walker, Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Renteria). That is so impressive! Also, Walker really wants to be in the STL because he vetoed two trades just before the deadline, and made it clear afterwards that he only wanted to play in the best baseball town in the U.S. It could be a fun October!
