Bruce Springsteen: Political Pundit

Bruce Springsteen, in a new Rolling Stone interview.

"I think that Fox News and the Republican right have intimidated the press into an incredible self-consciousness about appearing objective and backed them into a corner of sorts where they have ceded some of their responsibility and righteous power."

So, Bruce, let me get this straight...

1. Fox News isn't "the press." OK.
2. Being objective isn't important and being "self-consciousness about appearing objective" is bad? I always thought "the press" should strive for objectivity in reporting. I guess not. Hmm. Whodathunkit?
3. "The press" (at least the segments of it that Springsteen agrees with, promotes, supports, believes in) have "ceded some of their responsibility and righteous power." Huh? So "the press" has a "responsibilty" to be emotional and use their "righteous power" to not be "intimidated" when reporting their version of the facts?

I'll take a leap and grant you that Fox News is biased, Mr. Springsteen, if you accept that your "press" is, too.

I've never owned a Bruce Springsteen album. And I'm not going to start now.
