Charleston, South Carolina is the greatest place in the world

Yep. I want to move there. The downtown is amazing, clean, and you could lost in the shopping, food, and sight-seeing. I didn't want to come back. I'm glad Melissa's brother and uncle live there so we can visit often. I am looking for a job there as we speak.

We swam at the beach at the Isle of Palms. Oh man. Fun waves. Great weather.
What the frig am I doing living in Chattanooga?!!?

Your'e absolutely right. Charleston is a dang good town. But in the exact same line n' style, I think Savannah might even be a step-up from Charleston! Though I'd "settle" for either.

Funny you should mention Savannah. Melissa's brother and uncle lived in Savannah before Charleston, and while Savannah is great, 1)it's dirtier, and 2)the racial tension is bad.

Otherwise, a toss-up..

Watch Ken Burns' "The Civil War," and notice how many times Shelby Foote says, "Vicksburg." At my last count, it was 52,877 times.

Vicksburg is unbelievably boring, but I have to admit, the battlefield there is interesting. I've been twice, and I don't even like battlefields! If I lived there, I think I would go hang out inside the Illinois monument...it has amazing accoustics. It's only an hour away from where I live, maybe I should go hang out there again sometime.

Caution... Don't fall into the "This was great on vacation; let's move here!" trap. It seldom works out. As a visitor, you are blissfully ignorant of the local political structure. Just remember that.

Yeah the Illinois monument is the coolest thing in town. It DOES have great acoustics. I went there once on a bright summer day and was picking some generic blues tunes on my guitar with my eyes closed. People were coming in and looking around, but I was ignoring them. I heard some change hitting the stone floor. Some tourists had given me a tip because they thought I was a blind panhandler (I had left my sunglasses on)! It was funny.
