Red Bank, TN

Here are some things that I think are funny/strange/stupid about Red Bank.

1. The name. I've yet to find any meaning behind it. I'm not sure if we actually border the river, but I doubt the bank is particularly red.
2. The city government. They took away recycling pickup because it was too expensive, yet my trash pickup fees went up. Now I have piles of cardboard and moldy milk jugs piled up in my basement and have to drive it downtown myself.
3. The police. They are always zipping around at 80 MPH on our 35 MPH streets. It sets a bad example. I'll see 4 cars flying into a neighborhood and think, Surely this will be on the news. It never is... and I'm so worried its just a case of DWB (Driving While Black.)
4. Accoutrements. What's up with those street lights every five feet? The old-timey looking ones..? How do they enhance the strip-mall, power-line rigged, downtown intersection of Morrison Springs and Dayton Blvd? My suggestions, no more crippety-crap, waste of $$. Invest in underground power supplies.
Why is Dayton Blvd in Red Bank anyway?
5. Apartments. At least 2/3 of Chattanooga'a apartment housing must be in Red Bank. How did this happen? Was there a meeting? Maybe this was decided at the same time when they decided not to integrate Chattanooga's public schools.

I guess that's it. Anything I've overlooked?

Drug Infested as RossVegas >?? Maybe in white oak area near all the slum lord apts and houses. but the from City hall north is very nice quiet area.. Ive owned 3 houses in RB wouldnt live anywhere else in Chattanooga area, except Dunlap .. even though it is 30 miles out of chattanooga :) I once started a Red Bank web site .. but got side tracked onto other things .. any way the name originally came from the then post office that overlooked the city in the south end of town.. RB then was a pretty muched stripped of trees and vegitation.. because all the houses being built in the city.. the po clerk said something to the effect of that bank over there sure is red .. and apparently a light came on .. someone said red bank yea great name for the city.
There is quite a bit of info on red bank at the city hall , and library down town. but the best place to get info on RB in the old days is the RB senior center . they are full of old stories about RB.
But I have a feeling you arent too keen on the old folks at the moment... and yes I have had my share of near misses with them my self.
But the city of RB (goverment ) wants so bad to be as hip as Signal Mtn. or Downtown Chattanooga .. they just want to try and make it that old fasioned feel.. a place to feel at home and welcome.
Have any of you who read this that live in RB .. ever gone to a city hall meeting to see what RB wants to do and is doing in RB ?? Cant bitch if you dont vote and give them your opionion.
Thats my 2 cents for the day
