Last night, several of us went over to Micah's for game night. Micah, of course, made quite the spread of appetizers, all of which were delicious. Then we pulled out the game selection and made our choices. First, we played Scattegories, which was pretty fun. We then decided to play "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon." Impossible. First of all, it involved about 5 different dice, plus a board, and all these cards that had names of actors. Maybe all of us playing were too young, but it had people like Desi Arnez. Who can connect Kevin Bacon to Desi Arnez!?! Again, I say: impossible. We gave up before we even started. We began a game of Trival Pursuit, but it got too late, so we had to call it a night.
I'm not usually a game player. I used to play a lot of card games, back in my college years, but I haven't even done that in a while. Every now and then, it's really fun to break out the board games.
My wife and I are addicted to playing cards with my brother and his wife. It's at least a twice-weekly occurence. We used to play Monopoly a lot but it would end up getting a little too heated, mainly between the men at the table.
Desi Arnez and Kevin Bacon? The link is probably in someone who guested on I Love Lucy, on Desi's end, and an older actor on Kevin Bacon's end, maybe even someone in Footloose. Just a guess.

Posted by: levy at September 25, 2003 12:47 PMThat's awesome! If only I could study the site and remember all the connections so I could rock the board game.
Posted by: Christin at September 25, 2003 01:05 PMDesi Arnez was in "I Love Lucy" with William Frawley.
William Frawley was in "Miracle on 34th Street" with Maureen O'Hara.
Maureen O'Hara was in "Only the Lonely" with John Candy.
John Candy was in "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" with Kevin Bacon.
4 steps.
Impressive!
Posted by: Christin at September 25, 2003 03:54 PMIn my own head and with actors I've actually heard of:
William Holden guested with Arnaz on "I Love Lucy" (actually, he and Harpo Marx are the only guests I remember). Holden acted with Alec Guiness in Bridge on the River Kwai. Guiness was Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars. Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) played in The Blues Brothers with John Belushi. And Belushi, of course, played with Bacon in Animal House.
That's four actors seperating Bacon and Arnaz. Not bad for not going obscure.
Posted by: The Dane at September 29, 2003 02:45 PMWow. This is the only time I've ever felt like I haven't seen very many movies.
Posted by: Christin at September 29, 2003 02:49 PMI would never attempt to play this game against The Dane!
