You know how the French always seem weak and effeminate?...and to me, the Germans seem rather cold and harsh. Why do you think that is? I've often thought their languages have made them this way. The French have too many vowels in their language, while the Germans have too many consonants. English speaking nations aren't perfect of course, but I think the mixture of Germanic and Romance languages gives us little more balance. (Of course, I am slightly biased.)
