There hasn't been nearly as much coverage in the US media as there should be, but what's probably one of the most significant world events is the election in Ukraine, which appears to have been stolen from the opposition candidate.
Some interesting English language blogs covering the opposition perspective are Le Sabot Post-Moderne, Orange Ukraine, and Tulip Girl.
I haven't looked into it enough to know if it's the case, but it appears that there are a lot of similarities between this election and the Yugoslav election of 2000, where Milosevic tried to steal the election, and which ended in a bloodless revolution bringing the opposition leader to power. Here's hoping that the situation in Ukraine will end as peacefully, hopefully without having to resort to revolution for true democracy to come to the Ukraine.
