According to reports on ESPN.com, the Bucs deactivated Keyshawn Johnson for season. There will be a news conference held by the Bucs at 4:00.
I wonder what happened. It's been known that Keyshawn and Gruden aren't exactly best of friends (and according to the ESPN story, Keyshawn threatened to retire rather than play in Tampa in 2004), but to can him at this point in the season, something dramatic had to have happened. Maybe he had the mother of all tirades after the loss to Green Bay.
I had the great misfortune of seeing an interview last night with ESPN's Dan Patrick and Keyshawn... not being a huge NFL fan (college is where it's at, baby), I had absolutely *no idea* what a cocky, arrogant, and shamelessly self-involved guy Mr. Johnson is. He reminded me of Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character Rod Tidwell from Jerry Maguire, minus the reformed and caring sweet side that Tidwell had underneath all that pomp and bluster. What a true distraction he must've been to his team.
