Particularly, in the underrated QB department, I'm thinking of Brad Johnson of the Buccaneers. That guy gets absolutely no respect. At the moment, he has the number 3 quarterback rating at 101.1, behind Steve McNair (107.8) and Peyton Manning (101.3). The next best QB is Tim Couch with only 93.8. Last season, he finished the season at #3 on the list, ahead of such vaunted QBs as, Manning (#5), McNabb(#7), Favre(#12), McNair(#17), Vick(#18), and Culpepper(#26). Despite this fact, people keep saying things like "He's no Vick." Sure he ain't no Vick--he's got a better QB rating than Vick, and he's a better decision maker than Vick. Just because he's not as mobile as Vick doesn't mean that he's not a good quarterback--Mike Vick could learn an awful lot from Brad Johnson's decision making skills.
To add insult to injury, when Rush Limbaugh was looking to justify his claim that McNabb is overrated, he said that McNabb of last season was more like last season's Brad Johnson than last season's Daunte Culpepper (the point being that Culpepper is a good QB and Johnson is mediocre). The absurdity of that is that Johnson actually was very good last year while Culpepper struggled terribly. Oh, but Rush thinks that he can insult McNabb by comparing him to Johnson.
On other football-related topics, did anyone see what happened in the Ohio State vs. Wisconsin game? I haven't seen the tape, but apparently, an Ohio State player was caught on film choking the Wisconsin QB while they were in the pile after a play. There are questionable things that go on under the pile (remember Earnest Graham accusing a FSU player of deliberately twisting his ankle while they were under the pile), but choking the quarterback is just nuts. That's someone going into the game to deliberatly take one of the other team's players out of the game, and the guilty party should be kicked out of football. It also raises the question as to whether the helmet to knee hit that took Willis McGahee out of the national championship game last year really was an accident. A lot of people questioned it then, and after what went down this weekend, it's looking like a pattern.
