This blog kind of spilled out of its intended proportions.
I promised myself today that when my children reach high school I will remember what my high school experience was like. The intensity of it, and how one little thing could mean utter happiness or pure mortification.
I promise myself that I will also remember the angst and the anger and the frustration of being that age.
High School on CD: Korn - Follow the Leader, Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar, Triple 6 Mafia - When the Smoke Clears/The End, Silverchair - Frogstomp/Freak Show.
8th Grade: Green Day - Dookie/Insomniac, Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. crush on this guy named Chris winter. Best memory was going out to Sunset Rock and staying at camp with my entire class. Will always remember Mrs. Coltrane waking us up in our bunkbeds. Mr. Voraritskul was a huge influence in getting me into poetry.
7th Grade: what are bands? I was a total book/writing nerd. I listened to the radio. I met my friend Abby and we were holographic images. Made fun of Dan playing imaginary soccer with his mailman, thought school dances were awkward and had my first period.
6th: didn't care enough. daydreams of horseback riding and playing with troll dolls. Was very creative though, created a futuristic city out of foam inserts and other random pieces of plastic.
5th: eh.
4th: I loved the class guinea pig. I remember still saying our vowels out loud. I was best friends with Candice.
3rd: I got my glasses, hated dividing more than multiplying, but both I was not fond of, loved terrariums and reallly loved paper mache.
won't ever forget sitting outside worried and lonely waiting on my mom to pick me up. She didn't come. Mom's work friend Chris had to pick me up because my mom and sister were in a wreck.
2nd: ummmm Oh yeah, pleasing mrs Gilbert by doing good things so we could get a cottonball in the "we were good" jar. Really enjoyed reading
1st: really annoyed by having to color in the lines. Saw my friend Darren drawing..and he was really really good at it.. Remember Megan playing "you show me yours i'll show you mine... with a boy named Pedro (in first grade!) o_O
kindergarten: remembering hating having to play Jack sprat's fat wife in our kindergarten play.
pre/daycare: remember "chocolate" and "vanilla" sand in the playground. Jamie, who I met up with later, had a profound effect on myself and my best friend Jessica..Jamie thought she was a cat!...we simply couldn't understand her.. It was very exotic.
I remember my very first kiss was from a curly brown haired boy named Matthew who kissed me behind a big tree on the playground before he ran off to go play Daniel Boone.
....
In high school I wore Jncos, big shirts, lots of necklaces. dyed my hair, painted my room black, only bought makeup on halloween, didnt curl or fix my hair, was annoyed by preps, was a vampire every halloween, drove the family van with a box in the back, became a computer nerd, took auto class, marched in band until my senior year, and oh yeah. did lots of drugs.
I will always remember the advice Mrs. Crump gave her Psychology & Ancient
World History class.
...Why all this?
