Sad to hear that the "Man in Black", Johnny Cash, has passed away at 71. He had a voice like the devil and I'll miss him.

Posted by: JosiahQ at September 12, 2003 09:58 AMDitto. I've heard most of his great classics this morning on the local station. He was absolutely one of the best.
Posted by: SonofThunder at September 12, 2003 10:20 AMWere you being witty or did you confuse the title? (if so, very appropriate) I think its funny how popular he has gotten among the pop stars and MTV elite in the last year or so. I always thought of him as an outcast.
Posted by: svenska at September 12, 2003 10:43 AM"A Man Named Sue" was one of his songs- is that what you meant? "The Man in Black" was his nickname, due to the all black clothes. He was the ultimate cowboy in my book. A little rough around the edges, a little bit of the bad boy thing going. He knew the formula.
Posted by: Shannon at September 12, 2003 12:40 PMI think the title is actually 'A Boy named Sue' which is why your title seems witty.
Posted by: Patrick at September 12, 2003 12:56 PMOops - just a mistake. I wish I was that clever, but, I'm not. I'm not changing the title though, it seems like a good one.
Posted by: Shannon at September 12, 2003 01:14 PMmwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... i've been a johnny cash fan forever... and i'm so sad... have always loved his music... and consider him right up there among the best looking and sexiest sounding men in the world... johnny cash... bob dylan... rodney frady... charles bronson...
p.s. of course, the men in my family... daddy... brothers... nephews... are all the most wonderful men in the world... that's a given...
but... on a different plane altogether... the ones that made my heart flutter were those four... oh... and sean connery... after he got older... not while he was a young man...
The boy named Sue was a fighter and rowdy and reckless because he didn't like what his father named him because people made fun of it. Johnny Cash was rowdy and reckless( maybe a fighter too) because he didn't like he music industry of his time(father)and what they called him.
Thats why I thought it was so witty, the boy named Sue became the man named Johnny. Kinda far fetched I guess.
Posted by: svenska at September 12, 2003 01:50 PMI can't believe the country legend is dead. By the way, Christin told me that John Ritter also died today(or maybe it was yesterday) from a heart attack. And I was just humming the "Three's Company" tune this morning. Coincidence? I think not.
Posted by: Amy at September 12, 2003 02:28 PMYeah, that's sad too. His sitcom "8 Simple Rules" was surprisingly funny to me.
Posted by: Shannon at September 12, 2003 02:38 PMMaybe you killed him, Amy.
