Shannon, You Get Down From There!

One of my absolute favorite reoccuring dreams is that I am flying. If you've not had one of these before, you are definately missing out. I don't know that I put a lot of stock into the meaning and interpretation of dreams, but there is something really unique about flying dreams.

Flying dreams fall under a category of dreams where you become aware that you are dreaming, known as lucid dreaming. Many dreamers have described the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience. (Taken from Dream Moods.)

Exhilirating. Definately. I think everyone dreams of flying in a different way. For myself, I have to get a running start, and take a big jump, and I'm up, up, and away. I fly over the town, over fields, and other low lying areas. I never really fly into clouds- I sort of cruise cities and surrounding country. The only rule is that I can not go up at a 90 degree angle , or I "putter" out and the trip is over. It's so disappointing if I accidentally forget that or can't avoid it. It never lasts long enough!

Other people I've talked to have their own styles and rules. I know someone who has to spin around like a helicopter and she begins to lift off the ground. Some people have wings, some people float in bubbles...

I think the coolest thing about flying dreams is that you realize it's a dream, and you have a lot of control over what happens... it's less like a dream and more like reality in that respect. This lucid dreaming is something that you can teach yourself. A trick that I was told a long time ago is to put a mark on your hand, and everytime you look at it during the day, ask yourself, "is this a dream?" Obviously, you know it isn't, but you'll get into the habit of asking that question. Eventually, you will ask yourself this question in a dream, and it will hit you, that yes, this is a dream, and suddenly you're lucid dreaming. Then you can direct the activities in your dream. It's pretty cool! Here's a website that tells you more about lucid dreaming, how to initiate it, and how to maintain it. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

By the way, how do you like my little photoshop goodie? What a fun program...

Dreams are my favorite thing in the world. Eric and I were talking about them the other day. It is so wierd what your mind actually thinks when you have no real control over it. So I wonder if we did not put such restraint on our minds during the waking hours, would we be crazy? I know if I thought the way I did in my sleep, I would definently be at least borderline. When I dream of flying, I get a running start too and then just lift up like a plane but fly low. It is fun.

I don't recall having a dream where I am flying. I'm sure I have had lucid dreams...I think. One nned not stare at a mark on his hand in order to practice lucid dreaming. All one needs to remember is:

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream

I don't recall ever flying in my dreams. I do very often, have reoccuring dreams, almost like reruns on a mini-series and I always pick up where I left off unless I decide to change something then I will go back to that point. Maybe I have control issues?

I have flying dreams all of the time. I am strong into lucid dreaming, but I do want you to know that there is so much more to this world than what you are experiencing.

I am a tarot reader that is well versed into dreams and how to interpret them. I have a lucid dreaming course that I am conducting and I have taught people just how important dream interpretation is.

You would be amazed how easy it is to figure out your dreams and just how much you can get out of them from even a simple symbol like a rotten egg. I have had many people join my course skeptical, but leave very excited for the next lesson.

Flying is just the fun part of the dreaming world, and even flying has lessons to it. You should dwelve deeper into the meanings that you are being given. All too often we want to contact other people to find out what they think, however we ignore the own answers our minds give us while we are asleep. Which really is the key to your soul.

Many Blessings,
Tammy
