So, I was happily surfing my blogroll, and clicked on Sara's Blue Canopy blog, and saw that she had moved her blog to WordPress.com (this is her new blog home).
I took a look around, and liked what I saw. So, as I noted yesterday, I went ahead and moved my (former Chattablogs) blog to it's new home.
As some of you may have read between the lines in some previous posts, I had thought about moving my blogs back to Blogger. Things have really improved over at Blogger from when I originally started my blog--but ultimately it wasn't enough to entice me back.
I really like the intuitive feel to WordPress. It seems to just work the way I think. I like that things like links are structured as "widgets"--rather than rewriting the blog template, I just access the various parts of the blog and edit as needed. I also like that I can log in to WordPress and edit my blog, including specific posts, from the blog front page.
But . . .
The gang at Chattablogs have been so great. When I got started here in early autumn 2003, they were extremely fast and responsive. And they've grown like crazy over the past three years--upgrading the servers and such all the while, making the blogging virtually troublefree. The gang here at Chattablogs had names, actually read and responded to emails. It wasn't the nameless, faceless entity that merged with the Borg, er, I mean Google.
So, I just moved my other blog. It's smaller, with much, much less traffic (not that there's much here). And left this one here.
Well, sort of.
I actually was able to quickly and easily import this blog to WordPress. I was just wanting to try things out. Over the past few days, I've been mirroring things here. There's some things that I'll have to relearn (like posting videos), but so far it's almost Clifton-proof. And I'm still trying to collect my links and get them installed.
Will this blog move? Well, I hate to say it, because I feel such loyalty to the Chattablogs guys, but, yes, I am moving my blog.
Until I get things finalized over at the new space, I'll keep the blogs mirroring one another. But you'll want to update your links.
My new blog home is: This Is Life!: Revolutions Around the Cruciform Axis.
