Oh Fer Pity's Sake! Couldn't Work Up Anything Original?

I was flipping through the channels last night (wife and girls out of town, not adjusting well to "pseudo-bachelorhood," same ol' same ol'), and caught a few minutes of this stupid trip: Dateline NBC: The mystery of 'The Jesus Papers'. It's an interesting read--a mainstream news program tries desperately to "break" a story that would, da-vinci-code-like, undermine all of Christianity . . . only to come to the end and find, there's no evidence for the theory, all the scholars who should and would know something about it eviscerate its premise, and we are only left to trust the word of a fairly obvious crackpot.

I'm not sure if it's because Western Easter is only a bit less than two weeks away or because the Da Vinci Code is supposed to open in the next month or so--or both--but I think we can expect to see ever more of this spring-time crap where the media seeks its ratings through "exposes" of Christianity.

Imagine, if you will, if they did a detailed exploration of Islam and the prophet Mohammed. That's right, you'll only be able to imagine it.
