. . . And Found, as Well as Other News

For those who were sitting on the edge of their seats and biting their nails over the whereabouts of my prayer rope--it was indeed on my icon corner. It's back again in my pocket and was dutifully used in thanksgiving this morning.

Also, for what it's worth: I used to wear my prayer rope on my left wrist, as many Orthodox do. But I found myself "wearing out" my prayer rope more from wearing it on my wrist than actually using it. So, in my pocket it now goes, ready for use, but not disintegrating simply from wearing it on my wrist.

Only one more week of teaching to go. I have one more set of weekly quizzes to grade before Tuesday. And then I'll have the final exams for logic and for ethics to grade, as well as final ethics papers. But my classes are blessedly small, so it won't be quite the investment of time it is with some of my 40-plus-student Loyola classes.

Whether from lack of sleep (I get up very, very early right now to write my papers), the mental energy already invested in the first two papers, or the thought I'm not quite half-way done yet (two more papers to go after this one), whatever the case, I am finding it difficult to actually write something down on my free will paper. I pretty much know what I want to say, and the direction I want the paper to go in, though I am waiting to see if I will have to argue to a different conclusion than I intend (I tend to research as I go, rather than write after researching), but I just cannot coherently put my thoughts down on paper, er, onscreen. It's certainly not from a lack of confidence, as it was for my Hegel paper.

This does not bode well for my Sextus paper. I don't yet have a clue what I will write on that, though I may well head in the direction of my strengths and take one of his arguments having to do with ethics.

I had wanted to be done with my free will paper by this morning, so I could turn it in on the way to work. No dice. I've spent a week and about three pages clearing my throat. I need to get on it. If it's not finished and ready to turn in by Monday, it will only add stress and complicate getting the other things done I need to have finished before the baby comes.

Whew. I'd roll up my sleeves . . . except I've got short sleeves on.
