Further Reflections on President Bush's Reelection

Old media? CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, New York Times. Done. Stick a fork in 'em.

The new media? Bloggers, World Net Daily, Drudge, conservative talk radio. Kings of the world.

Exit polls. Confirmed useless for the second straight presidential election. Get rid of 'em.

Democrats? Done for. Can they be resurrected? Only if they give up attack politics as their primary message. Gotta be for something, not just agin' it.

Third parties? Irrelevant. But how I wish they weren't.

Republicans? Learning to govern while in power. Have had mixed reviews these past couple of years. They now have more solid control. They's better do somethin' wid it.

Social and political liberals? Fangs pulled. Control diminished. Their agenda may well finally be slowed for a while.

Social and political conservatives? Justly proud of their accomplishments. Endouraged. Have new opportunities. But what will they do with it?

Zogby International polling company? No longer the wunderkind.

Mason-Dixon Polling and Research? Dead on. The king is dead. Long live the king.

The times they are a-changin'.

Thank God Ohio was no Florida 2000. We waited a few extra hours. Democracy works.

You have got to be kidding me. That is all I am going to say...

Pot meet Kettle.

Justin:

I'm not claiming moral purity for the Republicans. But note my point: Republicans, against large odds, actually made their agenda/platform known; you knew what they stood for. But what did the Democrats stand for? Did they have a message? Of course. But what were the voters left with?

That's my point.

Then say that! Had you said that I would have agreed. Sorry for being punchy but I am nausesous, angry, and tired (was up till 4:30).

The Dems need to reasses...McAuliffe out Dean. The mass mobilzation that happened this election was due to the grassroots momentum started by Dean. McA. and the DNC failed miserably (sp)

I apologize I wasn't clearer. I'm short of sleep, too. Four hours total since Monday morning 5am.

I think the political situation contributed a lot to the Democrats lack of a clear message. That and Kerry, himself. What could they really run on? The economy is picking up, there is nothing substantially different a President Kerry could do in Iraq and the Democrats have to play to their base with gay marriage & abortion, even though its obvious a large segment of the population disagrees with their stance. For the most liberal Democrats, Nader and/or the Green Party is viable alternative so the Democrats couldn't afford to alienate them by being more moderate in other areas.
